Job Summary The Sterile Processing Technician II is a certified technician whose areas of responsibility cover decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established standards and guidelines. The SP Tech II demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness when working in an indirect patient care department and addressing the request of the customer or provider.
Minimum Qualifications Education
High School Diploma or GED
Central Service Technology Course or equivalent work experience (at least one year in central sterile processing)
License & Certifications
Hold one of the following certifications or obtain within one year of hire: CRCST, CSPDT, or CBSPD
Work Experience
One (1) year of Central Sterile Processing experience required.
Communication Skills
Above average verbal skills (heavy public contact)
Bilingual skills preferred
Writing/Reports (legible handwriting and coherent writing)
Other Skills
Medical terms (surgical/medical terminology knowledge, critical thinking)
Multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment
Ability to lead projects
Monitor and interpret results of gauges
Research surgical instruments and supply companies
PC skills appropriate to meet job requirements
