The Mechanical Engineer I is responsible for the mechanical design of seed handling conveyors, bulk systems and seed treating equipment.
Design products to perform a prescribed function and meet customer expectations considering all aspects of design (function, safety, cost, reliability, serviceability, marketability, aesthetics)
Primary product areas: seed handling conveyors, bulk systems, seed treating
Design and implement improvements to existing products as required to maintain competitive edge
Lead testing / data collection for new products / product improvements / as needed for customers or partners
Assist in preparation and submission of patent disclosures, as needed
Create drawings for projects / products that are assigned to you, but also be willing to support / assist team members by doing drawings outside your own project list.
Follow KSi standards / protocols for doing and releasing drawings
Work closely with purchasing department and vendors/manufacturers for quoting new parts
Assign and create part numbers, BOM’s by following and staying within KSi defined protocol for new part creations
Work closely with Production on initial manufacturing / assembly of any product
Assist with manual creation of new products / maintenance of manuals for existing products by providing written content, drawings, etc.
Work with internal sales and marketing team to provide information when requested (pictures, gen-dims, drawings)
Handle change requests that are assigned to you in a timely manner and by following KSi protocol when working through these changes (change requests, ECN’s, drawing revs, etc.)
Work closely with Production to handle any issue that arises throughout the production process
Support KSi service team by providing timely support / responsiveness to any issue that arises, especially a product line that you are responsible for
Be willing to work directly with end customer to troubleshoot an issue when the question or issue is beyond the expertise / experience of our service team
Work through tasks that are assigned to you and communicate status changes / updates with engineering manager
This role can involve some travel

Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Engineering field preferred or minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering related role
Knowledge of engineering principles and procedures required
Skill in both verbal and written communication
Experience with AutoCad and Creo software preferred
Knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems
