American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery (LDRP) role requiring a compact or ND license and proficiency in fetal monitoring.

Responsibilities

Position is in an acute care hospital's LDRP unit

Unit includes 7 L&D beds, 8 postpartum beds, and 1 OR suite for C-sections

Patient population is primarily obstetric and neonate, with common cases including hypertension and gestational diabetes

Patient ratios are 1:1 for pitocin, magnesium, or insulin drips, and 1:3 for couplet care

Unit averages 58 births per month

RNs titrate pitocin, insulin, and magnesium drips as needed

Uses Meditech EMR and Philips monitors; EFM system is traceview/PIP

Day shifts (0645-1915) with call, every third weekend, and every other holiday required

Floating to Medsurg and ER is required based on skillset, with permanent staff floating first

Block scheduling is permitted but not self-scheduling

Maroon surgical scrubs are provided and must be worn on unit

Provide comprehensive care for obstetric and postpartum patients, including titration of common drips and strip interpretation

Work as part of a team supported by charge nurses, CNAs, and surgical techs on a locked unit

Three unit-specific orientation shifts provided with ongoing team support

Holiday coverage is required every other holiday

Must submit all RTO (requested time off) upfront; no additional RTO will be approved after submission

Candidates must be adaptive to change, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate sound judgment

First-time travelers are not required but previous travel experience is preferred

Requirements

Active ND or compact RN license in hand (no pending licenses accepted)

Minimum 2 years of recent LDRP or Labor & Delivery nursing experience

Current BLS certification and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required

Must be able to read and interpret fetal monitoring strips independently

Critical thinking skills, ability to follow quality metrics, and prior travel experience are essential Must be able to float to Medsurg and ER as needed

Two professional references required (one supervisor reference within the past year, and one peer or supervisor within the past three years)

Driver's license required for consideration

Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility and may not have worked at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility in the past 12 months
