The University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals is a 40,000 sq foot newly built hospital at the World Equestrian Center (WEC), a high-profile equine facility in Ocala, 30 minutes south of Gainesville. UF Veterinary Hospitals at WEC provides Equine sports medicine, rehabilitation, and diagnostic imaging services and Small Animal primary care and urgent care services. This is a full-time, benefited position and is considered essential personnel. This position requires a post offer health assessment. A background check will be required.
As a Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging Technician 2 based at the UFVH at WEC, the individual in this position must possess equine and small animal handling skills, excellent communication skills, and be proactive in determining the needs of the hospital. A successful applicant should enjoy learning new things and can quickly adapt to a changing environment. They need to possess a good base knowledge of veterinary medicine and express a positive attitude in their daily work. The individual must be able to communicate effectively, demonstrate critical thinking, and professionalism. This individual will assist with patient scheduling and ensuring image reports are finalized and distributed timely and effectively.
Diagnostic imaging supports services throughout the hospitals by obtaining high quality radiologic imaging of patients for interpretation by a radiologist. These images with an interpretation will provide information that will help determine a diagnosis for their patient. Our technicians work independently and in teams. The technician would be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the areas and equipment maintenance as well as maintaining inventory and stock.
At the University of Florida, we place a high value on the role our Technicians play in helping clinicians train the next generation of veterinary students. As a member of our care staff, you will play an instrumental role in instructing veterinary students and technicians in imaging acquisition, technical skills and performing medical treatments and procedures as directed by our veterinarians. This is a physically demanding position that requires excellent horse handling skills and experience, and the candidate must not have any medical conditions or implants which would preclude entry into the high-field MRI suite.
$20-$28 per hour based on experience
Required Qualifications: Credentialed veterinary technician or credentialed in a diagnostic imaging field.
Preferred:
Experience in veterinary diagnostic imaging
At least two years of relevant work experience loading, unloading, restraining, handling, and treating horses and small animals.
