Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a MO or compact license, recent ICU experience, and advanced certifications for a night shift assignment.
Responsibilities
Work in the ICU of a Magnet-designated, Level I trauma, teaching hospital
Patient population includes respiratory failure/ARDS, acute cardiac issues, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, sepsis, and transplant cases
Pre- and post-op cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries as well as medicine and neuro-medicine overflow
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30), every other weekend required
No on-call required
Floating required within ICU service line and potentially to ICU units at affiliate hospitals
Uses Epic charting system
Utilizes specialized equipment including IV pumps, CRRT/dialysis, ventilators, BiPAP, hemodynamic/invasive monitoring, and defibrillators
Responsible for comprehensive ICU nursing duties including ventilator management, emergent interventions, infection prevention, and care of complex, critically ill patients
Must wear navy scrubs
Holiday coverage required as scheduled
Pre-employment modules must be completed prior to start
No more than 7 days of requested time off permitted per 13-week contract; no RTO allowed in week one
Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Travelers may remain for up to 18 months with a required 3 month break after
Facial hair must allow for proper fit testing
Requirements
Active MO or compact RN license required
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications required
Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
Experience with management of ventilated patients, dysrhythmia interpretation, strokes, and multi-system organ dysfunction required
Proficiency with Epic EMR is required
Skills in CVP monitoring, arterial line management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, central/PICC line care, and blood product administration required
No first-time travelers accepted
Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
