The Mission of Catholic Charities of St. Louis is “To bring the healing, help, and hope of Jesus Christ to those in need with a compassionate and caring presence.” The Disaster Case Manager (DCM) will work with families and individuals whose lives have been devastated by the tornadoes that struck the St. Louis region. The Case Manager will primarily focus on helping survivors restore their housing and offer additional resources needed to return to their pre‑disaster quality of life.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with the DCM Supervisor to provide direct case management services to disaster survivors through advocacy, information and referral, crisis intervention, and recovery services.

Maintain consistent, regular contact based upon the client’s level of need through in‑person, virtual, and phone meetings.

Provide disaster case management services by working closely with the established local long‑term recovery efforts to address and meet disaster‑caused unmet needs.

Advocate for clients with local partner organizations and other resources inside and outside of the community to meet the disaster‑caused unmet needs.

Bring forward opportunities for immediate funding to management to be approved through Catholic Charities internal funding.

Develop, implement, and monitor individual recovery plans with clients; see clients in various settings which include but are not limited to agency, meeting space, parish location, or the client’s home to increase access to services.

Have reliable transportation to go to and from client visits and meetings – mileage is reimbursed.

Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date data and documentation for each active client.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but prior work experience helping underserved populations considered. Social work, public health, education, counseling, or other social service or public health‑related discipline is preferred.

Ability to work with established community partners to bring resources to those in our care.

Must have experience and a willingness to work in a fast‑paced social service, faith‑based environment serving individuals and families from various socioeconomic backgrounds.

Strong customer/client services orientation and strong listening skills.

Computer data entry skills.

This full‑time position is limited to 12 months of employment from date of hire with option to renew based on funding.
