Purpose This position will primarily provide clinical services—brief individual therapy, group therapy, and crisis counseling—for university students presenting with substance use/misuse and other dependency issues.
Responsibilities
Provide short‑term individual and group counseling and outreach to students who seek services with the center.
Conduct initial assessments of students’ presenting concerns and provide brief counseling with referred students.
Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation of all service contacts as required by center policies.
Develop and implement programmatic interventions addressing psycho‑social mental‑health needs of students.
Identify group assignment preferences, propose and develop new groups, and facilitate them.
Initiate advertising, recruitment, and screening for groups.
Facilitate groups in accordance with service agreements.
Demonstrate knowledge of group counseling and seek appropriate training.
Provide crisis intervention and prevention/outreach services to undergraduate and graduate students.
Coordinate referrals between CMHC and university or community service providers.
Provide clinical consultation to others on an as‑needed basis and seek consultation when appropriate.
Work collaboratively and cooperatively with multidisciplinary staff and other university departments.
Develop linkages with key contacts for the purpose of creating programmatic interventions that generate substantial participation by students.
Provide clinical training and supervision to social work and psychology interns, as well as pre‑doctoral psychology practicum students.
Attend and participate in departmental meetings, staff‑development programs, and prevention‑and‑outreach team meetings.
Comply with all CMHC and UT policies, procedures, and guidelines.
May be assigned other relevant duties as applicable.
Hands‑on coordination, components of thorough, professional and scientific clinical care, and clinical oversight of all students and participants monitored by the Health Services, Counseling and Mental Health Center
Qualifications
Experience working in a college/university counseling center or outpatient mental health setting.
Experience working with individuals who have experienced substance use/misuse and dependency issues.
Demonstrated experience in providing crisis intervention, brief individual therapy, care coordination, and case management to college students and/or young adults.
Experience providing culturally competent treatment to a varied client population.
Excellent verbal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of experience in providing brief individual therapy to college students in a university counseling center.
Two or more years of experience working with individuals who have experienced substance use/misuse and dependency issues.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team integrating both a medical model and a developmental perspective.
Expertise in ACT, CBT, and/or DBT.
Experience and expertise working with college students who have marginalized identities or who historically underutilized mental health services.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with campus personnel such as professionals in academic affairs and other student services providers.
Demonstrated ability to work within a large system and participate and collaborate effectively in a large mental health services agency.
Licensed for two years.
Salary Range LPC/LCSW: $82,860 + depending on qualifications
Licensed Psychologist: $94,400 + depending on qualifications
Provisionally Licensed Psychologist: $80,000
