Identify, assess and diagnose patient health problems through assessment and interaction. Plan and implement interventions to resolve patient care issues. Formulate and document nursing care plans for specific patients. Evaluate patient response to interventions and modify plans to achieve health care goals. Educate patients, families and significant others about post‑discharge care programs. Initiate patient care meetings to revise plans as needed. Maintain a safe and therapeutic patient care environment. Guide and direct the health care team to ensure quality patient care. Keep current on advances in nursing care through educational programs. Orient and educate new staff in nursing techniques and departmental procedures. Provide and oversee direct patient care following established nursing protocol and physician orders. Utilize knowledge of medications, procedures, infection control and safety precautions to intervene appropriately in crisis situations. Participate in total quality management to improve patient and system outcomes. Work rotating schedules, including variable hours, weekends, nights, and holidays to meet 24/7 staffing demands. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Demonstrated ability to perform essential functions. Provide care to the population served. Demonstrate leadership, human relations and effective communication skills. Availability to work variable and rotating shifts in a 24/7 patient care environment. Display mental and emotional stamina in high stress situations. Function calmly and competently in high stress situations. Deal with hazards involved in patient assessment and care. Assess data regarding patient status and provide care per departmental policies. Evidence of 400‑800 clinical hours in an acute care setting during formal education or 2080 hours post course work. Qualifications

Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system to be obtained within 30 days of hire. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah, or obtain one within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact if switching residency to State of Utah. Maintain current Interstate Compact license if residency is not being changed to Utah. Preferred Qualifications

Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within one year of hire. Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Intensive work may exert up to 100 pounds and consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or moving objects such as medical equipment or patients. Exposure to infectious diseases; may interact with prisoners and behavioral health patients. Physical Requirements
