The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute (HBOI) and the Department of Geoscience at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) invite applications for a postdoctoral fellowship focused on advance sea‑level rise understanding in the Gulf of America. The fellowship, funded by the National Academies Gulf Research Program, will integrate high‑resolution climate and ocean modeling with machine‑learning techniques to predict regional sea‑level variability and rise. Responsibilities

The successful candidate will analyze Community Earth System Model (CESM) high‑resolution simulations for four Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP) and nested SCHISM and FVCOM simulations to characterize local sea‑level changes in the Gulf of America. The work includes diagnosing how large‑scale atmospheric and oceanic variability (ENSO, NAO, AMO, PDO, Loop Current, North Atlantic Warm Pool) drives sea‑level fluctuations, developing observational and model‑based diagnostics, identifying robust climate‑sea‑level linkages, and constructing indices for predictive skill. The postdoc will collaborate with the machine‑learning team to translate physical insights into scientifically meaningful predictors for a coastal sea‑level prediction framework and develop a user‑friendly predictive tool linking spatiotemporal climate information to coastal sea‑level. The fellowship spans two years, with the candidate recruited through the WLW‑ECOS Postdoctoral Fellowships program and/or the FAU College of Science Jumpstart Postdoctoral Program. Qualifications

A Ph.D. in atmospheric science, physical oceanography, or a related field (required). Experience in climate model analysis. Experience working with interdisciplinary collaborators from diverse backgrounds. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Application Process

Applicants should send a research interest statement and CV to Dr. Laurent Chérubin (email: lcherubin@fau.edu). The desired application deadline is

January 18, 2026 ; the selected candidate will be expected to submit final application materials by the programmatic deadline of

February 2, 2026 . For more information about the Jumpstart Postdoctoral Program, visit
