Job Description The School‑Based Counselor provides counseling services and coordination of integrated care for clients and families utilizing individual, group, and/or family approaches. This position promotes family and school involvement in all aspects of the service delivery process. School‑Based Counselors work with clients and their families to create individualized service plans, implement agreed‑upon interventions, and monitor progress toward goal completion. The Counselor promotes consumer/family independence and assists with transition planning. They work with the child and family team to prevent and/or appropriately respond to crises and to minimize out‑of‑home placement. The Counselor maintains a caseload of up to 50 clients, runs a minimum of four therapeutic groups on the school campus, facilitates intake assessments, participates in Child and Family Teams, provides clinical oversight, and conducts observations and direct services on campus.
Salary Master Level No License $56,000 / Master Level Associate License $72,000 / Master Level Independent License $85,000
Job Qualifications
18 years of age or older
Master's degree in a counseling‑related field is required (professional counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, counseling psychology)
Must have an active AZBBHE Associate Level License or higher (LMSW, LAC, LAMFT, LCSW, LPC, LMFT) or be within 6 months of hire date
Must have the skills and knowledge necessary to provide the behavioral health services authorized by the agency and meet the unique needs of client populations served, including children, and meet requirements for a BHT II or BHP
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to execute conflict resolution
Ability to develop routine reports and correspondence
Knowledge of Windows 365 environment and/or Electronic Health Records Systems
Ability to provide culturally sensitive services
Must have or be able to obtain a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
Must possess reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance
Must maintain current BLS certification
TB Screening Record and PPD/QuantiFERON/Chest x‑ray as applicable upon hire
Vaccinations/Titer’s Test/Declination Form: Flu, Hep B, MMR, Tdap, Varicella
