Responsibilities Provides shift to shift oversight for clinical practice, staffing, patient flow, safety, service, and utilization of resources for daily operations. Maintains the environment of care. Provides care to patients in a competent, capable, caring, and efficient manner. The care provided is appropriate to the age of the patients. Role models organizational values. Provides real-time feedback to staff to improve performance. Leads/Participates in department process improvement to improve project outcomes. Facilitates employee engagement activities including professional/shared governance participation.

Qualifications Education Requirements

Technical School/Years College/Associate's degree in nursing required.

Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. Must be obtained within 2 years of hire date.

Experience

1 year charge nurse experience preferred.

Professional experience that demonstrates the ability to understand the clinical practice environment. 2 years clinical nursing experience preferred.

Member of professional practice organization pertinent to area of practice preferred.

Skills

Effective interpersonal skills.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.

Ability to conceptualize the patient flow process and its impact at the unit and hospital level.

Ability to implement and sustain process changes to improve department and organizational outcomes.

License / Certification

Current RN license in Florida required.

Certification in specialty preferred.

Successful completion of unit specific certifications (BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, NRP, chemotherapy certification, etc.)
