12 hour Night shifts 6:30p-7am
The EKG Technician is responsible for performing all 12‑lead electrocardiograms and/or rhythm strips on patients across the hospital. Responsibilities include obtaining two high‑quality traces on each patient for better clarity, recognizing and reporting changes from previous EKG tracings as well as any life‑threatening arrhythmias, and performing clerical functions necessary for maintenance of the EKG record according to department policies and LCMC Health standards.
General Duties
Perform routine EKGs according to department protocols.
Respond to Code Blue through the hospital for emergent EKGs.
Prepare EKGs for physician review.
Ensure that all patient charges are entered and tracked in the available radiology system.
Distribute confirmed results to medical charts, ensuring each patient chart is properly created and results are mailed/delivered appropriately.
Maintain patient medical record files in a timely and efficient manner.
Inspect, maintain equipment, and report all malfunctions.
Ensure equipment is cleaned and sterilized between patients.
Order supplies in a timely fashion to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
Education Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED or EKG program completion certificate OR 2 years of work experience.
Licenses and Certifications
American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider
