$48.00/hr - $62.58/hr
Radiation Therapist to serve as a key member of the oncology team who administers precise, prescribed doses of radiation to patients using highly technical equipment, such as linear accelerators. This role requires a unique blend of technical skill, attention to detail, and compassionate patient care.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities Administering Treatment
Position patients accurately for treatment according to the physician's prescription, ensuring the correct body area is targeted.
Operate and calibrate complex radiation therapy equipment (e.g., Linear Accelerators) to deliver the prescribed radiation dose safely and effectively.
Follow principles of radiation protection for the patient, staff, and self, adhering to strict safety protocols.
Treatment Planning and Verification
Review and interpret the patient's prescription, treatment plan, and diagnosis from the Radiation Oncologist and Dosimetrist.
Prepare equipment and necessary devices, such as immobilization and protective shields.
Assist in simulation and tumor localization procedures (e.g., using CT or MRI data).
Patient Care And Communication
Explain treatment procedures and side effects to patients in a clear, reassuring, and compassionate manner.
Monitor patients closely during treatment for any unusual reactions or discomfort and provide emotional support.
Maintain detailed treatment records and documentation, including the dose delivered and any patient observations, to ensure continuity of care.
Collaboration
Work closely with the Radiation Oncologist, Medical Physicist, and Oncology Nurses.
Education/Required Licenses/Certifications
Graduate of Approved Program.
ARRT Registered.
Texas Medical Board - MRT.
CPR-BLS.
Shift Days.
Relocation Allowance varies.
