Location: Hampton, VA
First (Days) shift

License and Certification
Virginia or Compact Multi‑State RN license in good standing
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
Education
RN‑Associate’s Degree, RN‑Bachelor’s Degree, RN‑Diploma, or RN‑Master’s Degree
Experience
Minimum 1 year of Critical Care (ICU) or prior PACU experience required
Clinical Scope & Patient Population Provide Phase I recovery care for a mixed level of surgical procedures including:
Vascular
Urology & Gynecology
Orthopedics
Oncology
Bariatrics
General Surgery
Unique to this unit, the PACU team also oversees recovery of all cases utilizing General Anesthesia from CVIR and Endoscopy departments.
Schedule
0.9 FTE / 36 hours average per week: Day Shift 8 hours rotating between 0745‑1615, 0800‑1630, and 0900‑1730
On‑call Requirements
Weeknight Call: 4–5 shifts per 6‑week schedule block, 21:00‑07:00 (overnight coverage)
Weekend Call: 1 weekend per 6‑week schedule block, Saturday 07:00‑Monday 07:00 (48‑hour continuous coverage)
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive post‑anesthesia assessments, emphasizing airway management, hemodynamic stability, and pain control.
Manage a 10‑bed unit flow effectively, prioritizing patient acuity and discharge readiness.
Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and proceduralists (Endo/CVIR) for seamless continuity of care.
Administer medications and treatments according to established policies and patient needs.
Educate patients and families regarding post‑operative care and discharge instructions.
