Job Description
The Utah Department of Corrections is looking to hire a licensed Psychologist to provide psychological services to inmates who are in the Sex Offender Treatment Program (SOTP) at the Utah State Correctional Facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. You will provide services in diagnostic testing and assessment, participate in delivering psychological services for the prison system, the Board of Pardons, and related community correctional facilities, and serve as a member of the clinical treatment teams offering recommendations for inmate treatment.
Principle Duties
Performing diagnostic assessments on sexual offenders.
Performing psychological and psychosexual history interviews.
Conducting and scoring risk assessment instruments.
Writing reports summarizing inmates’ psychosocial and psychosexual histories.
Co‑facilitating process groups.
Conducting individual psychotherapy with sexual offenders.
Writing discharge evaluations for offenders releasing to the community.
Documenting treatment participation and writing treatment summaries, including recommendations for effective re‑integration into the community.
Consulting with other institutional staff on clinical and correctional management issues pertaining to sexual offenders.
Conducting treatment groups and individual sessions in the temporary absence of a clinical therapist.
The Ideal Candidate
Certified as a Sex Offender Treatment Provider by the Sex Offender Task Force.
At least one year of experience providing treatment to clients.
Doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Psychology from an accredited institution.
Current Utah license as a Psychologist.
Adherence to all standards of practice outlined by the American Psychological Association, State Licensing Board, Utah Department of Corrections, and the Board of Pardons.
If no candidate is licensed as a Psychologist in the State of Utah, this position may be filled by a Psychological Assistant II. Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. and only need to obtain their hours toward the Psychologist license. Training will be provided for those without experience in sex offense assessment and treatment.

Responsibilities
Develop and implement treatment plans that assess and address risk and protective factors related to sexual reoffending.
Conduct psychological testing to identify intellectual, mental health, and achievement factors related to treatment and supervision.
Document client progress, revise treatment plans, and complete administrative paperwork.
Discuss results, findings, and recommendations with appropriate parties.
Provide consultation and recommend actions for treatment decisions.
Act as an expert witness, giving testimony and recommendations in court cases or hearings.
Consult with others on treatment plans, new situations, and recommendations.
Supervise subordinate personnel, including hiring, managing workload, training, evaluating performance, and initiating corrective actions.
Select, administer, and interpret biofeedback, psychological tests, and other assessments.
Qualifications
Knowledge of human behavior, performance, and psychological research.
Experience in psychological assessment and counseling.
Diagnosis and therapeutic intervention skills.
Development of individualized treatment plans.
Provision of individual, group, and/or family counseling.
Use of non‑violent crisis intervention techniques.
Clear and concise written communication.
Data entry, transcription, and record keeping.
Problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
Implementation of programs or operational changes.
Consultation and expert advice or testimony.
Evaluation against standards.
Team collaboration skills.
Supervision skills including evaluations and disciplinary actions.
Knowledge of court hearing procedures and protocols.
Rehabilitation techniques and career guidance.
Effective verbal communication skills.
