Job Summary and Qualifications The Cardiology Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. The Cardio‑vascular RN possesses advanced knowledge and skill in cardiac nursing and demonstrates critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership in anticipating and planning patient care.

Responsibilities

Use critical thinking skills to assess facts and make rational decisions quickly and effectively with patients who have heart complications.

Participate as part of an interdisciplinary care team in the treatment of cardiac‑vascular conditions such as heart failure, valve disorders, hypertension, vascular disorders, heart attacks and arrhythmia.

Interpret data and respond to urgent situations to optimize patient care and produce positive outcomes.

Perform and interpret various cardiac and vascular lab tests.

Collaborate closely with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, electrophysiologists, and other physicians in caring for a full range of cardiovascular conditions.

Participate in clinical trials and research programs as needed.

Document legible and concise entries in the medical record.

Prepare patients for each visit and/or procedure.

Educate patients on cardiovascular diseases, including preventive measures.

Assist in performing diagnostic tests such as ECGs, EKGs, Holter and event monitors.

Interact with patients and their families pre‑ and post‑treatment.

Monitor patient and vital signs, especially cardiovascular readings.

Maintain knowledge of ACC/AHA guidelines related to heart failure.

Provide general nursing care as necessary for office treatment.

Respond to and refer incoming telephone calls.

Post test and examination results.

Administer medications per physician orders.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing is required.

Experience:

Minimum of three years Cardiac RN experience in an acute care or cardiology clinic setting is required.

Certification and License:

BLS required upon hire; ACLS required within 60 days of hire; Current unrestricted RN license as per state regulations; Cardiac Medicine Certification (CMC) through AACN preferred; Cardiac Vascular Nursing Certification (CV‑BC) through ANCC preferred.
