Speech Language Pathologist
SPEECH, LANGUAGE, AND HEARING SPECIALIST (2025-2026 School Year)
$2,800 Master's Degree (Yearly), $2,000 Speech Signing, $2,000 Speech Retention (Yearly)
To provide rehabilitation services to students with communicative disorders.
Performance Responsibilities : Screen, assess, and select students for enrollment in language, speech and hearing sessions. Examine for aphasia using such tests as Eisenson and Schuell. Meet with other school staff and parents to plan and discuss goals and objectives for these students. Plan long range goals, objectives and therapy procedures for case load. Maintain case records and write reports when needed. Keep parents informed of child's progress. Conduct speech therapy for pupils with functional or organic disorders employing standard clinical equipment. Maintain competence through attendance at professional meetings and through participation in appropriate college courses. Serve as member of the Admissions and Transfer Meeting when appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Special Education.
Experience:
At least one year, or equivalent, of successful experience working with children in the age range of 5-14 years.
Knowledge and Abilities : Knowledge of the principles, methods, equipment, and basic theory involved in the practice of communications rehabilitation; anatomy, physiology, and pathology of speech and hearing mechanisms; theory and practice of clinical diagnosis in speech pathology. Ability to evaluate and treat communicative disorders arising from neurological, muscular, and psychological impairments; develop and maintain cooperative relationships with pupils; prepare clear and concise reports on pupils communication disabilities.
Education : Master's Degree with specialty in Language, Speech and Hearing is desirable.
Credential and/or License:
Appropriate California Teaching Credential in Language, Speech and Hearing Therapy. A certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech and Hearing Association preferred.
