Job Type Part-Time – 20 hours per week, Night shift 8:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m., every other weekend or at least one weekend day each week.
Summary Responsible for providing clinical support to medical providers in a pulmonary/sleep medicine physician practice setting under the direction of a physician. Support must be within the employee’s education, experience, and scope of practice and includes triaging patient & physician phone calls, rooming patients, taking vital signs, collecting & documenting pertinent patient information, conducting tests, providing equipment, and patient/family education. The position also provides clerical support as needed and models the Brand Promise and Core Values through superior customer service.
Attributes
Preferred: Bachelor's degree
Preferred: Minimum 3 years of respiratory therapy experience
Preferred: 1 year pulmonary function testing experience
Preferred: PFT certification
Required: Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent certificate
Required Licensure/Certification: New York State Respiratory Therapist license with current registration, including credentials received prior to 9/1993.
Alternate requirement: New York State Respiratory Therapy Technician (RTT) license AND NBRC active credentials as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).
Responsibilities
Triage phone calls from patients and referring physicians.
Greet patients, collect pertinent information, including CPAP performance/compliance data for sleep medicine patients, and prepare them for examination.
Conduct pulmonary function and other testing consistent with scope of practice and training.
Provide prescribed equipment and supplies; facilitate CPAP therapy with DME providers and related patient/family education.
Educate patients/families regarding pulmonary diseases, sleep disorders, testing, treatments, and behavior modification.
Coordinate care with other providers, diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation services.
Support clinical activities, such as meeting with CPAP equipment representatives, maintaining supply inventories, and checking/maintaining equipment.
Assist clerical staff as needed.
Education Associate’s Degree: Nursing (Required)
Licenses / Certifications
BLS – Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)
RN – Registered Nurse (New York State Education Department)
Physical Requirements Medium work requiring occasional exert-to 20–50 lbs, frequent 10–25 lbs, and up to 10 lbs continuously. Requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.
Pay Range $33.48 – $44.81 per hour.
