Department Details:

PRN – no guaranteed hours per week. Needs an individual who is highly flexible to fill in when required.

Job Summary Prepares, assembles baked goods, cooks, seasons and portion food for patients/residents, staff, and visitors of the designated facility, adhering to menu and dietary requirements. Maintains excellence in food quality standards of appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. Performs washing and cleaning duties to ensure sanitation in cooking and serving areas. Manages labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery. Provides the highest quality and safest food possible to patients/residents, co‑workers, team members, and guests. Works with many internal customers, requiring above‑average communication and teamwork skills. Thrives in a dynamic and changing culinary environment by following standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines. Documents HACCP steps, temperatures, and outcomes, following production sheets for daily and weekly menus. Operates kitchen equipment including mixers, slicers, kettles, ovens, stoves, induction burners, grills, deep‑fat fryers, knives, dishwashers, garbage disposals, refrigerators, and freezers. Works independently when needed, demonstrates knowledge of food safety and sanitation processes, and applies basic math to accurately measure. Capable of standing for the majority of the day and walking long distances throughout the facility.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions; basic math skills required.

Minimum of six months of applicable experience preferred; on‑the‑job training provided.

ServSafe certification may be required within a designated time frame; additional endorsements may be required by location.

Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required depending on location requirements.

Valid driver’s license may be required if driving is expected.

Annual continuing education and mandatory in‑services, including safety education, must be fulfilled.
