Phlebotomist – Outpatient Lab (Part‑time)

Shift:
Day shift, 20 hours per week. Typical working hours 7:00 AM–5:30 PM Monday–Friday, with a 1‑hour lunch. One Saturday every four weeks from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

$17.46 per hour +
Location:
Qualified candidates must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to all Clinical Lab Locations: Ann Arbor, Brighton, Canton, Livonia, Milan, Plymouth, Ypsilanti.
Training:
All new team members must complete mandatory full‑time training: Monday‑Friday during normal business hours for at least 8 weeks. Open availability is required.
Position Purpose Perform phlebotomy, specimen receipt, processing, specimen distribution, computer order entry and/or requisition completion, and other pre‑analytical tasks. Track specimens through appropriate computer functions to ensure accurate, timely routing and submit complete and accurate patient samples, demographics, and diagnosis codes to the laboratory for testing.
Required Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of phlebotomy, medical assistant, or patient care technician training preferred.
Experience:
Previous phlebotomy/lab experience preferred.

What You Will Do
Perform successful sample collection: venipuncture blood draw, capillary puncture, infant heel sticks, and urine collection, using proper patient identification and customer service skills.
Understand laboratory requisitions and locate missing or incomplete information.
Complete specimen handling and processing including centrifugation of vacutainer and aliquating/pouring over of specimens.
Complete follow‑up tasks as needed.
Maintain minimum supply levels and clean workstation and section.
Register outpatients in the hospital electronic medical record system (EPIC) and determine preliminary patient or insurance payment obligation.
