The Research Assistant II position supports the Principal Investigator (PI) and lab research goals through a wide range of molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry techniques. Responsibilities include animal handling, laboratory maintenance, and supply ordering.

Key Responsibilities

Purification and manipulation of DNA and RNA from diverse biological sources (e.g., RT-PCR, plasmid and genomic DNA preparation).

Culture of primary cells and cell lines.

Protein extraction, quantification, and western blotting.

Mouse husbandry and physiological/behavioral analysis (weighing, running wheel, indirect calorimetry, treadmill, rotarod, body temperatures, sleep studies, blood collection, oral glucose tolerance and IPGTT).

Dissection of adult and embryonic mouse tissues.

Tissue processing for histology and molecular analysis.

Assist with cell maintenance and weekly inventory of lab supplies.

Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for technical support and routine maintenance of lab equipment.

Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or a related discipline; a minimum of 4 years of experience is required if the degree is in a different field.

Proficient with inventory software and Microsoft Office.

Preferred: prior laboratory experience or internships.

Offer The expected pay range for this position is $21.15 to $25.00 hourly, determined by factors such as scope of responsibilities, qualifications, and budget.
