About The Role The Dietary Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the preparation of all food items as per standardized recipes and special diet orders. Assists the Health Center Dietitian with the Health Center food service program and provides the level of supervision necessary to ensure courteous and efficient service, high quality and nutritious foods.
Daily Responsibilities
Assists in the planning, scheduling, and supervision of Health Center dietary staff.
Assists in developing all menus and standardized recipes for Health Center residents, assessing preferences and nutritional needs.
Determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus, places food orders, and ensures supplies are obtained from storage areas in adequate time for meal production.
Assists in assuring staff education is provided to dietary staff and culinary team in accordance with the staff education plan and provides on‑job training for Health Center dietary staff.
Develops work assignments for all dietary staff, assigns specific jobs, and spot‑checks work to ensure standards are met.
Responsible for completion of hall trays and accuracy.
Contacts the dietitian if unplanned or special therapeutic diets are ordered.
Ensures that meal tallies are accurate daily.
Assigns cleaning schedules daily.
Other Duties
Assists in providing on‑job training for Health Center dining room staff.
Inspects equipment to determine repairs or maintenance needs.
Participates in cost‑control measures.
Attends in‑service training and education sessions as assigned.
Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
High School diploma/GED required.
Minimum of two years supervisory experience in food service operations of a health care setting.
Certification in safety and sanitation regarding food service.
Experience in a long‑term health care environment preferred.
Ability to communicate, understand, empathize with, work with and be tolerant of residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors and subordinates.
Ability to interpret and explain menus, refer, or answer questions, coordinate meal service process and understand requests.
