Position Recreation Therapist / On‑Call / UKHC (Requisition Number DU12752)

Location & Salary Lexington, KY • $19.00–$30.09 per hour

Employment Details Staff Position, On‑Call, Part‑Time (minimum 36 hours per month).

Shift will vary; candidates must be available during day, evening, weekend and holidays.

Education & Credentials Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree.

Must be a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Therapist.

No required related experience.

Physical Requirements Position may require sitting, standing, and/or walking for extended periods.

Job Summary A Recreation Therapist plans, implements, coordinates, and participates in the conduct of therapeutic recreational activities for client groups.

Therapists conduct assessments, make treatment recommendations specific to the discipline and client needs, and communicate this information to appropriate team members.

Therapists function as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team managing delegated aspects of clinical client issues.

Patient responses and progress are communicated via rounds, written documentation, staff meetings and case conferences.

The therapist is also responsible for ordering, storing, tracking, and resolving issues related to recreation equipment.

Responsibilities

Plan, implement, and coordinate therapeutic recreational activities for client groups.

Conduct assessments and make treatment recommendations.

Communicate clinical information to multidisciplinary team members.

Document patient responses and progress in rounds, written records, and case conferences.

Order, store, track, and resolve recreation equipment issues.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Experience as a Recreation Therapist within a hospital setting.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work flexibly during day, evening, weekends and holidays.

Supervisory Responsibilities No supervisory responsibilities.
