Overview

Licensed Practical Nurse - MOB 520 Primary Care - Full Time - Days at The Christ Hospital Health Network. Role enables the physician to provide quality patient care, and assists in examination and treatment of patients under direction of physician by performing the duties described below. Responsibilities

Maintains patient flow during clinic hours. Documents review of systems; measures vital signs (pulse rate, respirations, blood pressure, weight, height); updates past and current medical, social and family history; abstracts new procedures; reviews medications and updates medication list at each visit. Correctly records patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR). Participates with the registered nurse in ongoing assessment to determine nurse care needs based on data pertinent to the patient’s health status. Prepares patient charts in EMR for visits by scanning, abstracting, and reviewing to ensure all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records needed by the physician are in the patient’s chart. Accesses and navigates external websites or calls outside facilities to obtain information as needed. Refills medications per MD orders and pre-authorizes medications, communicating with the patient, pharmacy, or insurance company as needed. Maintains pharmacy cabinet and records patient samples. Completes patient assistance paperwork/requests as needed. Performs basic triage per office protocol; handles calls, MyChart messages, daily workflow logs, and work queues in EMR/Practice Management system. Answers incoming calls, schedules appointments, checks in/out patients, and completes pre-certifications for prescriptions, procedures, and surgeries as needed. Operates EKGs and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests; performs clinical duties such as phlebotomy and cast removal as assigned; administers injections of substances legally permitted for LPNs/RNs. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; protects patient confidentiality and adheres to legal responsibilities related to the medical assistant role. Prepares treatment rooms for examination, maintains cleanliness, and ensures infection control. Orders medical supplies and manages inventory. Provides patient education and explanations. May manage phone triage of patient concerns as applicable. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: REQUIRED knowledge and skills to perform duties. Education credentials as specified; do not personalize based on current staff. EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing. Must be currently licensed in the State of Ohio. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years LPN experience required; physician office experience preferred. REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Ability to provide culturally specific patient care, effective communication with peers, confidentiality, continuing professional growth, adaptability, and ability to work in a culturally diverse setting. LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS: LPN license; BLS certification required. Membership in professional organizations desirable. Employment type
