WVU Medicine . This position performs all types of MRI services and assists physicians in the detection of pathology, abnormal anatomy, fractures, and disease. The MRI Technician screens patients for safety and exam appropriateness and is knowledgeable in all aspects of MRI safety.

Minimum Qualifications

Current licensure as an MRI Technologist through the West Virginia Board of Radiologic Technologists.

Registered through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MRI OR MRI certification through ARMRIT.

CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Five (5) years of MRI technologist experience.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Prepares patients for MRI examinations and explains procedures prior to testing.

Screens patients for contraindications and verifies pre-certification of insurance.

Performs quality MRI exams, maintains accurate records, and completes exams in a timely manner.

Performs routine QA checks and reports equipment issues to the Radiology director.

Maintains supplies in clean and sterile conditions; transports contaminated instruments to Central Processing.

Instructs and cross‑trains new technologists in MRI safety procedures.

Performs sterile and isolation techniques; follows all OSHA standards.

Maintains continuing education to perform high‑quality examinations.

Maintains a clean work area to prevent the spread of infection or disease.

Accurately assesses information on the RMS system and ensures all images are present in PACS.

Physical Requirements

Extended periods of standing and walking.

Lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.

Carry items of up to 20 lbs.

Working Environment

Works in a strong magnetic field; may be exposed to virus, disease, and infection.

Possible exposure to ionizing radiation and sharps.

May encounter traumatic situations including psychiatric crisis, physical injuries, and death.

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of MRI procedures and safety issues, organizational skills, communication skills, computer skills, and multitasking.

Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of situations.

Schedule and Compensation 40 hours per week. Unexempt, United States of America. WMCH Weirton Medical Center, 601 Colliers Way, Weirton, West Virginia.
