Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Physician
Driscoll Health System is recruiting a Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Physician. The current group consists of six Board Certified Pediatric Critical Care Physicians. Candidates must be MD/DO, dual board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Critical Care and Pediatric Cardiology, or have completed additional fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care. Extensive expertise in post‑operative management of complex and congenital heart patients is required.
Responsibilities
Provide critical care for post‑operative complex and congenital heart patients.
Manage patients in the Pediatric Critical Care Unit, including ECMO, high‑frequency ventilation, and CRRT.
Coordinate care with cardiac surgeons and interventional cardiology teams.
Participate in the multidisciplinary care of the new 35‑bed CICU, 2 new CV operating rooms, and 2 new Cath labs.
Contribute to quality improvement, clinical protocols, and educational activities.
Qualifications
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Critical Care.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology; or fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care.
MD/DO with a strong track record in post‑operative cardiac critical care.

Founded in 1953, it is the first and only free‑standing children’s hospital in the region. In 2019, the hospital had over 141,000 patient visits, including more than 46,000 patients seen in its dedicated children’s emergency department. In 2023, the PICU had 544 cardiac admissions and 193 cardiovascular surgical cases.
