Instructor Clinical Practice/APP at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. 1.0 FTE faculty clinical position for Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Sarcoma Clinic.
Position is not involved in course instruction and does not have tenure.
Job Summary
1.0 FTE faculty clinical position with benefits. The APP will be an active participant in clinical work seeing patients daily in Oncology clinics, oversee a chemotherapy infusion area, provide in-office and telephone support for Oncology patients and families, and receive training in symptom management, palliative care and clinical trials.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the health care of patients at the University of Colorado Cancer Center, coordinate patient care with available hospital resources. Perform comprehensive patient health assessment, including health history, physical exams, preventive screening, and identify medical health risks and needs. Perform scheduled study-related visits, study screenings, and toxicity assessments of patients on phase I-III clinical trials. Formulate appropriate differential diagnoses based on clinical evaluation. Perform, order and interpret diagnostic studies within scope of practice. Perform advanced technical procedures within scope of clinical practice. Plan and implement therapeutic regimens, including prescription of patient medications/devices. Establish systematic follow-up for evaluation of plan of care and reassess and modify the plan as necessary, including referrals and consultation with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate. Ensure patient and family teaching is adequate to manage the illness or wellness plan at home. Facilitate client participation and promote self-care by providing information needed to make decisions and choices. Facilitate appropriate utilization of the medical system in a cost-effective manner without jeopardizing quality of care and service. Participate as a team member in providing health care, effectively interacting with professional colleagues to provide comprehensive care as a responsible clinic professional. Assist others as necessary, using time constructively and using computer systems appropriately. Maintain accurate, legible, and confidential medical records and ensure charting is current and up to date. Hours: Day shift with evenings, weekends, and holiday rotation; participate in night and weekend call as needed for additional pay, with a physician backup and shared among clinicians.
Pay Range
HIRING RANGE: $100,000-115,000.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Nursing and/or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant School. Current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant with prescriptive privileges in Colorado. Meets and maintains the requirements of the nursing credential review board for the advanced practice nurse. Certified as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant by a national professional organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of oncology skillset and experience as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant. Clinical experience with oncology and/or cancer clinical trials patients is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to analyze and interpret complex data and troubleshoot research projects. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment. Knowledge of compliance, safety, and regulatory procedures in research.
