Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Oncology Unit
Sentara CarePlex Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Medical Oncology Unit. Receive a $20K sign-off bonus and relocation assistance for qualified candidates. Location & Shift City/State: Hampton, VA
Work Shift: Nights (Third Shift) – 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, differential pay.
Weekend: Rotating
Weekly schedule hours: 36 hours
Responsibilities As a Registered Nurse in this unit you will be responsible for:
Assessing/admitting patients and conducting rounding checks.
Administering medication and chemotherapy/biotherapy drugs (certification required after 6 months).
Providing pre‑ and post‑surgical care, hospice and palliative care, and sickle cell management.
Communicating with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal care.
License & Certification
Virginia or Compact Multi‑State license in good standing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire.
Education
RN‑Associate’s Degree, RN‑Bachelor’s Degree, RN‑Diploma, or RN‑Master’s Degree.
Professional Development New graduates can enroll in Sentara’s 6‑month nurse residency program, which offers practical skills training, mentorship, and exposure to multiple specialties such as medical‑surgical, intermediate care, critical care, emergency care, operating room, and women’s health.
