Overview AdventHealth Medical Group Oncology and Hematology is one of the largest oncology and hematology practices in Central Florida. The practice has made significant strides in breast cancer, colorectal cancer and lung cancer research, early diagnosis and positive patient outcomes. Our physicians are heavily involved in clinical trials and are committed to providing comprehensive continuum of services, access to national clinical trials and world‑class cancer treatment.
General Summary
Perform physical examinations, evaluate and treat hematology and oncology patients primarily in the outpatient setting at our Apopka location.
Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory work, X‑ray, etc.
Monitor the patient’s course of treatment and make appropriate referrals to physicians or specialists as needed.
Collaborate with physician supervisor, outpatient pharmacist, infusion center, radiation oncology and staff to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff.
Manage and treat a wide variety of cancers including breast, lung, gastrointestinal, head and neck, urologic, chronic leukemias and lymphomas.
Always display a caring and professional attitude, while maintaining personal and professional growth.
Participate in practice call with weekend rounding & call.
Schedule Details
Schedule: Monday‑Friday
Campuses Covered: AdventHealth Apopka, Orlando, East Orlando, and Altamonte Springs (primary); Winter Park, Apopka, Winter Garden (secondary)
Call required: rotating at night, 1:6 weekends, and holiday call.
Knowledge and Skills Required
Effective communication skills
Strong medical decision‑making skills
Strong clinical background with an emphasis on oncology‑related conditions
Able to work evening and weekend hours as needed; night and weekend on‑call responsibilities are required.
Required Education / Experience
Master's degree in nursing (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA‑C) Studies
1‑2 years of experience as APRN or PA‑C in Hematology/Oncology practice preferred.
Licensure, Certification and Registration
Current, valid Florida APRN or PA license
ANCC, AANP (or equivalent) or NCCPA certification required.
BLS and ACLS required.
ONS Certification preferred.
Practice Description The practice collaborates with the AdventHealth Cancer Institute, the largest cancer center in Central Florida, recognized worldwide for its comprehensive, state‑of‑the‑art care. The institute is a leader in robotic gynecologic‑oncology surgeries and robotic prostatectomies using the da Vinci® Surgical System, performing more than 8,000 cancer surgeries annually. Accredited as a Community Comprehensive Cancer Center by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and recognized by the American Society of Clinical Oncology for its clinical research, the practice maintains research affiliations with the National Cancer Institute, Sarah Cannon Research Institute and other institutions.
