Cardiac EP Lab RN – Liberty Hospital
Position Summary: The Cardiac EP Lab RN delivers evidence‑based care in Cardiac EP Labs; monitors electrical and hemodynamic parameters, assesses patients during procedures, administers moderate sedation, performs advanced diagnostic and invasive procedures, assists Electrophysiologist, and performs additional duties as assigned. Responsibilities
Administers intravenous and oral medications. Assists in the collection of arterial and venous blood samples and respiratory gases. Attends to patient needs during electrophysiology studies and monitors vital signs. Circulates during procedures as applicable. Develops and contributes to the nursing plan of care. Obtains and records hemodynamic, electrical, and angiographic data; operates amplifiers and digital and line fluoroscopic equipment. Participates in late staffing per established schedule. Participates in life‑saving measures such as defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Participates in orienting new staff. Prepares patient and equipment for electrophysiology procedures, including draping, arranging sterilized instruments and catheters, and calibrating pressure transducers and tubing. Prepares Electrophysiology Lab procedure rooms ensuring adequate stock. Must be able to perform the professional, clinical, and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department. Other duties may be assigned as required. Required Education and Experience
High School Graduate. Associate Degree Nursing in Nursing Perioperative & Procedures; for ADN prepared nurses hired after February 24, 2017; must complete BSN degree by the fifth anniversary of employment as an RN with UKHA. Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor Degree Nursing. 2 or more years of ICU or previous Cath Lab experience. Electrophysiology Lab (Cath Lab and/or EP Lab) experience. Required Licensure and Certification
Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) – American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association (AHA). Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) – American Heart Association (AHA). Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) – State Board of Nursing in Kansas OR Missouri. Preferred Licensure and Certification
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) – Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) OR. Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) – Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) OR. Registration as Cardiovascular Technologist (RCVT). Cardiovascular Certificate, License or Registration ~ CCRN. Knowledge Requirements
