Job Summary and Responsibilities As a PACU Registered Nurse, you will care for surgical patients immediately after operation. Your responsibilities include:
Managing airway support and monitoring neurological and cardiac status.
Providing initial wound care and ensuring patient stability during recovery.
Collaborating with the surgical and anesthesia teams.
Responding promptly to complications or side effects.
Being available on-call during select non-business hours (to be discussed).
Delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices.
Participating in interdisciplinary team rounds with providers, therapy, and other staff.
Consistently applying the nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care.
Assessing patient condition, monitoring throughout the shift, and documenting changes thoroughly.
Educating patients and families or caregivers about medical condition, treatment, and follow-up measures.
Position Details Self/peripheral scheduling is posted four weeks in advance.
Supportive, visible leadership promotes a collaborative and respectful team culture, enabling nurses to ask questions and provide input.
Staffing support includes certified nursing assistants, patient care techs, charge nurses, and an RN float pool within HCA Healthcare available as needed.
Rounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, ensures your voice is heard on suggested patient care improvements.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Nurse Diploma.
ACLS or ACLS Instructor certification within 6 months of employment start date.
BCLS or BCLS Instructor certification within 30 days of employment start date.
PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support or PALS Instructor certification within 6 months of employment start date.
