Responsibilities
Assist in planning, organizing, developing, and operating the Dining Services Department to ensure daily delivery of quality nutritional services.
Monitor weights/weight changes and provide nutrition interventions when necessary.
Complete all nutrition evaluations on admissions.
Complete weekly/monthly weight audits.
Document all nutrition‑related resident visits.
Create and update resident care plans.
Provide point‑of‑service meal delivery.
Follow therapeutic diet guidelines, including proper temperature and serving time.
Educate department staff on dietary functions.
Assure planning, preparation, and serving of all therapeutic diets.
Oversee that sufficient inventory is maintained per policy and procedure, including emergency supplies.
Formulate menu planning within accepted therapeutic guidelines.
Ensure menus are accurately adhered to and appropriate substitutes are made per policy.
Maintain quality and quantity of all food delivery.
Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from an accredited college or university.
Current registration as a dietitian by the Committee of Dietetic Registration.
Training in cost control, food management, diet therapy, etc., preferred.
New graduates welcome.
Specific Requirements
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Skill in dealing tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, governmental agencies, and the general public.
Knowledge of dining service procedures and related laws, regulations, and guidelines governing dietary functions in long‑term care facilities.
Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non‑professional personnel.
Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures of the Dining Service Department.
Ability to maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and perform regular inspections for sanitation, order, safety, and performance of duties.
Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, and willingness to handle residents at varying levels of maturity.
Ability to read and interpret dietary cost reports and financial data.
Ability to relate information concerning the resident’s condition.
Participation in planning and conducting in‑service educational programs.
