Department Overview The Department of City and Regional Planning seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses that foster critical analysis and practical planning skills. The Department’s mission is to provide a rigorous, inclusive learning environment that prepares students for leadership in planning and public service.

Position Summary The Temporary Faculty Pool – Lecturer teaches the following core courses and may be assigned additional courses as needed to meet student enrollment and curriculum objectives.

CRP 115 – Urban Design

CRP 135 – Planning Law & Administration

CRP 150A – Community Plan Making – A

CRP 150B – Community Plan Making – B

Instructor Responsibility

Adhere to university and systemwide policies as directed by Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2.

Prepare, deliver, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, assignments, quizzes, projects, and exams.

Maintain course schedules and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).

Conditional Appointment Appointments are contingent upon budget, enrollment, and the Order of Work provisions in the CSU–CFA collective bargaining agreement. Eligibility to work in the United States is required (Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty). The pool is continuously open and closed positions are filled as funding and enrollment allow.

Compensation Salary ranges are on the CSU salary schedule (Class Code 2358). A master's degree holder is paid $5,507–$6,677 per month for 15 WTUs when teaching full time, starting at the minimum of the range. Monthly pay is adjusted based on WTU assignments per term.

Anticipated Semester The pool is open for the upcoming academic terms:

Fall 2025 – August 18, 2025 to December 22, 2025

Spring 2026 – January 15, 2026 to May 22, 2026

Required Qualifications

Education:

Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

Experience:

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; undergraduate teaching experience; teaching evaluations or evidence of teaching effectiveness.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level with positive evaluations.

Experience in a closely related discipline.
