About the Job
Join a groundbreaking startup harnessing the chemical potential of the earth to unlock a new primary energy resource. We use the earth as a chemical reactor to produce
geologic ammonia , an essential chemical/fuel significantly cheaper than current production methods. Our proprietary stimulation and reaction-control methods position us at the forefront of clean, reliable, and low-cost energy solutions.
We are seeking a technically rigorous Analytical Geochemist to deepen our understanding of fluid–rock–gas interactions and to lead advanced characterization efforts on experimental systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in geochemical, mineralogical, and petrographic analysis, coupled with hands-on experience using a range of analytical and spectroscopic techniques. In addition to supporting experimental research, this role will contribute to
daily laboratory operations , ensuring efficient execution, data integrity, and instrument readiness in a collaborative research environment.
Basic Requirements
B.S. in
geochemistry, geology, chemistry, materials science, or related field
2+ years of relevant lab experience with
analytical or geochemical characterization
Solid grounding in
aqueous geochemistry, mineralogy, and reaction chemistry
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex data clearly to interdisciplinary teams
Eligible to work in the U.S. without immediate sponsorship
Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal and team collaboration abilities
Self-starter capable of thriving in a fast-paced and dynamic start-up environment
Preferred Qualifications
M.S. or Ph.D. in geochemistry, geology, chemistry, or chemical engineering
2+ years of experience conducting rock, fluid and gas characterization using diverse analytical tools
Experience with high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) experiments on fluid–rock–gas systems
Proficiency in analytical and geochemical techniques, including XRD (X-ray Diffraction), NMR Spectroscopy, ICP-OES and IC (Ion Chromatography), SEM-EDS (Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy), GC (Gas Chromatography), Petrography and thin section analysis, micro-CT
Experience managing and maintaining instrumentation, calibrations, and troubleshooting
Familiarity with statistical methods, data analytics, and experimental design
Experience with geological hydrogen processes or subsurface geochemical systems
Job Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive sample characterization using XRD, SEM-EDS, NMR, ICP-OES, GC, IC, and petrographic techniques
Support day-to-day laboratory operations, including sample preparation including rock cutting, crushing and coring, assay preparation, reagent management, and equipment maintenance
Conduct HPHT experiments investigating fluid–rock–gas reactions and geochemical kinetics
Analyze and interpret multi-modal datasets to inform reaction mechanisms and scaling relationships
Develop, refine, and document data analysis workflows and experimental methods
Conduct literature reviews to identify analytical and geochemical advances relevant to project goals
Ensure strict adherence to EH&S standards and laboratory safety protocols
Communicate results through internal reports, technical presentations, and collaborative reviews
Onboarding & Benefits
Comprehensive healthcare, vision, and dental coverage for employees and dependents
Competitive compensation with
stock option opportunities
Access to cutting-edge
geochemical and materials characterization facilities
A dynamic, collaborative culture that values curiosity, precision, and innovation
