As an LPN supporting our Joint Replacement physician and two Physician Assistants in Orthopaedic Surgery, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional, top‑quality care to a diverse patient population. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, all while enhancing your nursing skills through hands‑on experience and numerous educational resources offered within the Cleveland Clinic system.
Shift schedule: Days from
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Primary location: Weston; caregivers will be required to travel to the Coral Springs location two days per week.
Responsibilities
Provide professional nursing care to patients.
Administer medication.
Maintain complete and accurate documentation in medical records and files.
Complete authorization forms and laboratory requisitions.
Implement pain management assessments and documentation.
Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.
Follow Code Blue protocol.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of Accredited LPN program
Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Knowledge of Infection Control Practices
Experience with technology
Computer literacy
Phlebotomy background and ability to draw blood
Preferred Qualifications
One year of clinical experience
One year of experience in outpatient setting
Experience with adult populations
Experience with EPIC
Orthopaedic background
Physical Requirements
Knowledge of all aspects of patient care including assessing, planning, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating patients’ progress through the continuum of care in conjunction with the RN or physician.
Frequent walking, sitting, and standing.
Frequent talking and listening when giving instruction and explanations.
Frequent use of phone, fax machine, and occasional use of the computer.
Heavy lifting and moving patients, carrying equipment, supplies, and material up to 50 pounds without help and over 50 pounds with mechanical devices or other personnel.
Stooping, pushing, pulling and manipulating equipment.
Mostly indoors in air‑conditioned areas.
Significant exposure to blood and blood‑borne pathogens.
Clinical exposure to patients requires use of personal protective equipment.
Personal Protective Equipment
High exposure to infectious wastes such as blood and bodily fluids that mandate wearing of gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles as appropriate.
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
