Per Diem Role – 30 hours a week Responsibilities The Patient Access Representative III is responsible for patient check‑in and check‑out for medical group physicians and other licensed providers. The role requires independent judgment to coordinate scheduling of patient appointments across multiple hospital departments. The representative utilizes telecommunications and computer information systems to create accounts, verify information and insurance, collect co‑pays, and schedule and re‑schedule complex appointments. The representative focuses on system‑specific service lines that align with the patient experience initiative. Key duties include:
Registration and scheduling: register, pre‑register, consent, and schedule all patient appointment types across clinics, ancillary areas and hospital. Create pre‑registration records and link them to scheduled appointments. Proactively coordinate appointments with other functional areas. Maintain department productivity, accuracy, and quality assurance standards.
Financial clearance: verify eligibility, obtain authorization, and ensure financial protocols are met. Escalate unsecure financial accounts to management. Provide patients with itineraries, advance beneficiary notices and written instructions for tests and procedures.
Customer service: greet patients, serve as a liaison between patients and support staff. Develop effective relationships with colleagues, physicians, providers, leaders and other employees across the organization. Demonstrate genuine interest in helping patients, providers and employees.
Quality assurance: maintain productivity and accuracy. Maintain thorough knowledge of policies, procedures and standard work within the department.
Miscellaneous duties: answer calls, manage faxes, organize and file documents, inventory supplies, data entry and other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Two years of related experience registering and scheduling complex patient appointments in a clinic or hospital setting. Medical terminology experience required.
