Development Manager - Utility Scale Solar and BESS
Utility-Scale Renewable Energy Project Development Manager – Austin, Texas
Our client is seeking a renewable energy project developer to drive greenfield development and acquisitions. This role will focus on identifying, securing, and advancing utility-scale solar and BESS through all development phases. This is a hybrid position – 3 days per week in the Austin office.
Key Responsibilities:
Secure land
for utility-scale solar and BESS and establish partnerships.
Stay informed on local and state regulations
impacting project development.
Lead greenfield development and acquisition efforts
to bring projects to NTP/construction readiness.
Assess project feasibility , considering layout, permitting, and total installed costs.
Collaborate with Transmission, Real Estate, and Legal teams
to resolve development challenges.
Negotiate land agreements, interconnection contracts, and other key development documents.
Oversee project timelines, budgets, permitting, and interconnection processes.
Manage multiple projects , ensuring steady progress across all stages.
Provide project updates to leadership
and present to the Investment Committee.
Explore new software tools
to optimize project development.
Qualifications & Experience:
5+ years
of experience in renewable energy project development.
Strong leadership and project management skills in a remote, fast-paced environment.
Expertise in renewable energy regulations, permitting, and interconnection.
Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.
Ability to work across multi‑disciplinary teams and time zones.
Proven track record of driving projects to completion.
Bachelor’s degree
in business, engineering, energy, or related field preferred.
Willingness to travel.
