Job Description The Natural Resources team is seeking a

Mid-level Wildlife Biologist (Biologist III)

to join our Environmental Planning and Permitting group.

This Sacramento‑based position offers a hybrid schedule and the opportunity to contribute to CEQA compliance through environmental planning, permitting, technical writing and analysis, or leading field studies for a variety of exciting projects in the Sacramento region.

Preparation of technical reports documenting survey or monitoring results.

Preparation of permit applications.

Preparation of environmental planning documents (CEQA/NEPA).

Leading surveys for special‑status fish and wildlife and nesting birds.

Use technical expertise to assess habitat for special‑status fish and wildlife and provide strategies and recommendations on avoidance and minimization of impacts.

Ensuring construction activities comply with environmental requirements and/or permits.

Maintaining current knowledge of regulations regarding special‑status fish and wildlife species.

Participation as an active and positive member of AECOM’s Environmental Planning & Permitting group in the Sacramento office.

Occasional travel in Central and Northern California.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related field.

4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency in environmental consulting, environmental analysis, habitat assessments, biological surveys, environmental compliance and technical report writing.

Valid U.S. Driver License required (and must be able to safely drive to job sites).

U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

6+ years of relevant biological experience.

Experience writing and preparing Biological Assessments, CEQA/NEPA documents, permit applications for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and technical reports for resource surveys and monitoring.

Experience with special‑status species surveys for fish or wildlife that may occur in the Sacramento region, such as giant garter snake, northwestern pond turtle, California tiger salamander, and western spadefoot.

Experience using field data collection tools such as ArcGIS Collector, external GPS receivers, and Trimble units.

Experience with resource‑specific survey methods and data collection, including use of standardized fields and datasheets.

Knowledge of common and special‑status fish and wildlife species that may occur in the Sacramento region.

Independent report‑writing and field surveying capabilities.

Experience surveying or evaluating special‑status fish species in the Sacramento‑San Joaquin Delta.

Experience leading field efforts that support the preparation of permit applications and technical reports.

Experience leading monitoring or conducting monitoring during construction.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities with a positive attitude in a fast‑paced work environment.

Skilled at organization and detail‑oriented in managing schedules, budgets, and written deliverables.

Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with colleagues, clients, and agency representatives, both verbally and in writing.

A federal recovery permit for special‑status species is desired, but not required.

Additional Information Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.

The range for this position is $80,000 to $92,000.
