Job Summary The NICU (Critical Care) Registered Nurse (RN) delivers exceptional nursing care to patients in a timely and caring manner. The role requires strong organization and leadership, patient assessment, care planning, nursing interventions, and a safe therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities
Utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status
Determine the priority of the patient’s problems and needs
Implement clinical nursing interventions to acute, critical patients requiring intensive medical care
Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes
Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
Essential Functions
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
Conduct and analyze initial and ongoing patient assessment, create a plan of care, implement treatment, and evaluate treatment effectiveness
Synthesize and prioritize information to take immediate, evidence‑based, patient‑focused action using clinical judgement and inquiry
Anticipate and respond confidently to rapidly changing patient conditions
Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and the organization’s policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned
Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred, not required)
Certifications
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred at hire; ACLS required within 6 months of hire)
PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred at hire; required instead of BLS/ACLS for pediatric units; must obtain from an approved source prior to direct patient care)
Experience
1 year of RN experience (required)
6 months of RN experience in a Med/Surg, Critical Care, Step‑down, or Emergency Department unit (preferred)
