Summary Assumes responsibilities for direct nursing care of assigned inmates/patients, adolescent through adult, under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician in a correctional facility which may house 1,300‑2,000 inmates/patients. Serves an underserved, high‑need population experiencing mental health issues, substance use disorders and complex medical needs. Provides nursing services to patients in accordance with the scope of the Licensed Practical Nurse license. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications
Required:
Graduate of an approved School of Practical Nursing.
Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the State of Ohio through the Ohio Board of Nursing, including certification to pass medications and completion of an Ohio Board of Nursing IV therapy course.
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.
Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred:
One year experience in an inpatient or long‑term care setting, as appropriate.
Physical Requirements:
May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day; may need to sit or stand for extended periods; see in normal visual range with or without correction; hear in normal audio range with or without correction; ability to lift 250‑300 pounds with assistance; ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance; requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids; requires some exposure to chemicals.
