Location Onancock, Virginia
Overview The Ultrasound Technologist in the acute care setting will perform a wide range of ultrasound exams, such as general ultrasound, breast, OB/GYN, and other ultrasound exams on incoming patients. The ultrasound technologist answers patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and processes, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding personal health information. The ultrasound technologist is responsible for daily operations of the ultrasound lab, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, reporting equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). The ultrasound technologist always maintains a high standard of medical ethics and is self-motivated to pursue lifelong learning to increase understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.
What You Will Do
Use imaging equipment and soundwaves to form images for diagnosis; produce quality images following appropriate protocols and procedures.
Provide and maintain clinical documentation per scope of practice.
Educate patients/families regarding the procedure to be performed; explain the procedure and independently perform ultrasound exams following established protocols.
Evaluate images for quality; interpret captured images; present images and preliminary findings to the physician.
Maintain the ultrasound equipment and sterilize the room; perform and evaluate equipment quality control measurements; troubleshoot and ensure equipment functionality.
Monitor and maintain an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure uninterrupted services.
Understand and adhere to all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards; follow RHS policies and procedures; report variances.
Qualifications
Ultrasound experience (Preferred).
Licenses and Certifications
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) – American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) RDMS (OB or AB) – Upon Hire (Required).
Radiologic Technologist – ARRT; Sonography (S) – Upon Hire (Required).
CPR/BLS Certification – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) – Upon Hire (Required).
