Position Summary ORLANDO HEALTH HORIZON WEST HOSPITAL is a 60‑bed acute‑care hospital – with room to grow to 120 beds – located in the Horizon West community of Winter Garden, Florida. The facility offers a full complement of services, including heart care with complete cardio‑diagnostic capabilities, digestive health, emergency care, outpatient imaging and lab, orthopedics and sports medicine, and reflux and esophageal disorders. Advanced surgical services include minimally invasive and robotic surgery options with specialties in general, thoracic, podiatric, orthopedic and advanced gynecologic procedures. The hospital has earned Primary Stroke Center and Joint Replacement certification from The Joint Commission and a repeat “A” Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for Spring 2025. Summary Works with patients who have impairments, limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes. The Physical Therapist role includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis and interventions toward achieving the highest functional outcomes for each patient or client.

Responsibilities

Evaluates patients, gathering data from the patient, the physician, interdisciplinary team meetings, family and significant others, and other data sources.

Develops treatment plans which integrate with the continuum of care, have specific goals and objectives, and treat patients accordingly.

Demonstrates competency in the use, care and maintenance of profession‑specific equipment, observing safety precautions and providing verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose.

Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to treat and provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned caseload.

Re‑evaluates and modifies the treatment plan and goals when appropriate.

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.

Assesses data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s age‑specific requirements.

Provides care as described in the unit’s/area’s/department’s policies and procedures.

Recognizes and communicates when the patient has received optimal benefit from physical therapy.

Adheres to the State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.

Ensures complete documentation and accurate billing.

Provides patient/family education as indicated.

Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Maintains a positive and encouraging treatment environment.

Demonstrates caring, honesty and open communication with all patients and coworkers.

Maintains a professional appearance.

Participates in performance improvement, program development, student supervision, assigned committees, safety and infection control, as required.

Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Practices efficient use and selection of supplies and equipment.

Instructs and supervises supportive personnel in their duties.

Qualifications

Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an approved program in physical therapy.

Licensure/Certification:

Maintains current Physical Therapist license in the State of Florida. Temporary permit acceptable.

Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.

Experience: None.
