BayPointe Hospital is a psychiatric acute care facility located in Mobile, AL, serving both children, adolescents, and adults. The clinical and medical professionals assess and evaluate patients in psychiatric crises, focusing on stabilizing symptoms and preventing commitments. Each patient completes a psychiatric diagnostic evaluation and receives 24‑hour clinical care for the duration of their stay, with the goal of returning home or to the least restrictive level of care. BayPointe also serves children and adolescents in a residential setting, offering a caring, structured environment and developmentally appropriate therapeutic services 24 hours a day. Families and caregivers are actively involved in treatment and discharge planning.
Essential Functions
Complete the admission process for consumers, including Nursing Assessments, Medical Checklist/Physical Health/Nutritional screening, Medication List, Medication Administration Record, vital signs, height/weight, transcribing physician orders, AIMS, and admission notes.
Observe consumer behavior in groups and activities, document observations, interact with consumers, and evaluate needs to ensure proper information is passed between shifts and during staffing with the Treatment Team.
Supervise nursing care and oversee routine task assignments of RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and Behavioral Aides/Specialists.
Administer medications, observing the Six Rights of medication administration.
Provide medication education for the consumer and family, including uses and potential side effects; monitor consumers for side effects and report findings to the physician.
Communicate effectively with the physician regarding the consumer’s physical and mental condition.
Interface with the multi-disciplinary team and actively and cooperatively participate in development of the interdisciplinary treatment plan.
Perform venipuncture for laboratory requests, monitor results, and report all abnormal findings to the physician.
Provide emergency care as needed (CPR, MindSet, PRN medications) according to AltaPointe Policy & Procedures.
Assist consumers with personal care issues (bathing, toileting, and other personal hygiene items).
Demonstrate willingness to work on any unit at EastPointe or BayPointe based on facility needs and as directed by the supervisor.
Recognize the elements of a crisis state and know how to deescalate or resolve the situation.
Assist with Seclusion and Restraints per AltaPointe Policy & Procedures.
Effectively demonstrate the application of child/adolescent/adult competencies.
Adhere to professional code of ethics.
Seek clinical supervision and consultation as needed.
Accept and employ suggestions for improvement.
Actively work to enhance clinical skills.
Document in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy.
Document in a clear, concise manner types of consumer problems, treatment goals, and services provided.
Ensure forms, notes, logs, and other applicable written information are completed promptly, accurately, and updated when appropriate.
Document legibly.
Maintain courteous and respectful attitudes toward consumers, visitors, and co-workers.
Treat consumers with care, dignity, and compassion.
Respect consumers’ privacy and confidentiality.

Physical Requirements
Frequent standing, sitting, and walking in bursts of 5 to 10 minutes, with occasional extended pacing with the consumer.
Occasional forward bending from the hips while kneeling to reach to the side.
Occasional ability to assume a full squat/lunge from a standing position.
Occasional ability to maintain back extension while on stomach, holding body weight on hips and legs for several minutes.
Occasional ability to place one knee and one elbow on the same side of the body.
Occasional ability to kneel and reach toward the floor on the same side.
Lift up to 10 pounds from the floor to various levels, including overhead occasionally during shift.
Lift up to 50 pounds to assist in Activities of Daily Living, as required; lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
Strong grasp required to use keys to open doors throughout the facility and maintain constant contact with a consumer during a restraint procedure.
Pushing or pulling up to 25 pounds occasionally during shift.
Ability to ambulate quickly to assist coworkers with a consumer in a restraint procedure (e.g., jog/run up to 0.1 mile).
Physical requirements may vary for therapy inside or outside the facility, including playing or games.
