Major Job Functions

Develop training programs to support system changes

Provide medication therapy management, symptom management, and chemotherapy/medication education as allowed per the protocol between the CPP and the physicians of the CFV clinic.

Serve as pharmacy resource to providers in a CFV clinic to include but not limited to: primary literature search, drug information inquiries, staff continuing education presentations.

Maintain effective professional relationships with CFVHS staff.

Participate in organizational improvement activities.

Complete all required documentation.

Serve as member of Residency Advisory Committee.

Develop working relationships with outpatient physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and clinic directors in the Cape Fear Valley system.

Administer vaccinations and demonstrate appropriate medication administration techniques.

Precept, evaluate, and mentor PGY1 pharmacy residents.

Precept PharmD students.

Hold self and staff accountable for providing exemplary patient service.

Develop and implement quality improvement measures to improve patient care and staff efficiency.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education And Formal Training

Doctorate of Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy required.

License with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy required.

Obtain Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner (CPP) license within 1 year of job acceptance.

PGY1 pharmacy residency preferred.

PGY2 in ambulatory care pharmacy or equivalent ambulatory care experience preferred.

Board Certification preferred, Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) or other.

Work Experience

2 years of pharmacy practice experience required.

Experience in precepting pharmacy students and/or residents preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required

Effective communicator and independent thinker.

Ability to manage computer systems.

Strong problem solving skills and natural ability to manage staff.

Strong background in clinical knowledge and ability to communicate with patients.

Ability to communicate effectively to providers in an interdisciplinary setting.

Continuous growth in ambulatory care pharmacy necessary.

Physical Requirements

Ability to move freely across pharmacy, clinics, and surrounding community to interact with staff and perform duties.

Clear hearing and reading of orders.

Effective communication skills.

Can lift 5 pounds.
