Perform all procedures within the Ultrasound Section of the Radiology Department. Assess the patient, review orders and chart to confirm the reason for the exam. Document pertinent patient symptoms and clinical history and ensure a signed consent form is present if needed. Prepare the patient for the procedure, answer any patient questions and effectively communicate with the supervising radiologist for special instructions and or questions regarding exam protocol. Promptly complete and accurately record exam begin and end time in the Radiology Information System (RIS). Provide a safe environment to include infection control guidelines, universal precautions and patient safety goals. Monitor the timeliness of exams and quality of care based on established department goals, striving for continuous quality improvement. Perform QA of exams prior to sending to radiologist for interpretation. Actively participate in the clinical education of student sonographers and department’s Performance Improvement Projects. Qualifications

Graduate of an AMA approved Sonography program. ARRT (Sonography) or ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) preferred. New graduates may apply that are registered or registry eligible. New graduates that are registry eligible must be registered by either ARDMS or ARRT (Sonography) within 12 months of hire. Maintain current AHA CPR certification through Cape Fear Valley Training and Development department. 1 year minimal experience preferred, but not required. Demonstrated technical skills and expertise in performing diagnostic and vascular sonography. Positive interpersonal skills with verbal and written communication. Compassionate patient care and knowledge of growth and development for all age groups. Effective patient care interactions with patients of all ages. Physical Requirements

Must have dexterity and visual acuity. Must have mobility to respond to emergency situations. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to bend and lift up to 100 lbs/*carry objects up to 50 lbs.* Position may involve contact with blood or other potentially infectious material. Benefits
