Scope of Position:

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed toward achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization. The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost‑effective care.

Position Summary:

The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to patients with brain and spinal cord injury.

Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans.

Coordinate and delegate nursing duties to interdisciplinary team members.

Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary.

Educate patients, families, and staff regarding care procedures and recovery goals.

Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Degree in Nursing from a CCNE or ACEN accredited nursing program.

Current Ohio RN license or interim permit (experience in a relevant care setting preferred).

Maintains current Ohio RN license and meets mandatory educational and health requirements.

Demonstrates computer skills required for job functions.
