SW KC Mkt Medical Technologist Certified - PRN
Position Title: SW KC Mkt Medical Technologist Certified - PRN – Evenings (1430‑2300) on weekends at Olathe Hospital.
Position Summary Performs a variety of laboratory and diagnostic procedures in Hematology, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Serology, Coagulation and Phlebotomy on specimens from clinic patients to provide information for diagnosing and combating disease. The Medical Technologist (Certified) supports Olathe Medical Services, Inc.’s mission, vision and values.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate knowledge of laboratory principles and follow approved test procedures.
Work independently, organizing to maximize department efficiency and completing testing within TAT expectations; take appropriate action when necessary.
Ensure specimen integrity by adhering to procedures for identification, handling, processing and storage.
Perform instrument start‑up, maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting with proper documentation; take corrective action.
Execute and document all required quality control; take corrective action as needed.
Correctly perform tests, interpret results for accuracy and critical limits with proper documentation; take corrective action.
Answer phones and pneumatic tube system calls promptly and courteously.
Provide accurate and complete hand‑off communication to the next shift.
Assist coworkers and help train new laboratory employees and students.
Perform the professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
Other duties may be assigned as required.
Required Education and Experience
Associate’s degree and certification with ASCP, NCA or AMT, or
Bachelor’s degree and certification with ASCP, NCA or AMT, or
Completion of a HEW approved Medical Technology school or a US Military Laboratory training program with at least 10 years of hospital lab experience without certification, or
At least one year of experience in the clinical laboratory field without a bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Education and Experience
Hospital lab experience.

Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) – ASCP Board of Certification
Medical Technologist (MT) – AMT
Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) – NCA
ASCP Specialist Certification (MB, SBB, SC, SH, or SM)
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) – ASCP
Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) – NCA
Clinical Laboratory Technologist – HEW
US Military Laboratory training program certificate of completion
