Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Provides direct patient care within RN scope of practice and hospital policies.
Plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care based on individual patient needs and physician orders.
Responds quickly and appropriately to emergency situations.
Identifies educational needs, implements and evaluates learning, and documents patient/family education.
Manages acute and chronic pain, especially post‑procedure or surgical patients.
Delivers medication based on continual assessment, safety, and patient response.
Conducts medical screening examinations per policies for patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
Follows all documentation policies.
Qualifications Education
Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Current Texas RN License.
Current BLS; must obtain ACLS within 6 months of hire.
Required Experience
Minimum two (2) years’ experience as an RN in a hospital Medical/Surgery or ICU unit.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Assesses patients’ psychosocial, educational, and physical needs; addresses needs in an age‑appropriate manner for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric populations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good organization habits.
Decision making based on nursing judgment.
Ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient and unit needs.
Experience with Electronic Health Records.
