There's way more to H-E-B than our 400+ Stores. To support our manufacturing and warehouse campus locations, the H-E-B Industrial Facility Services team provides maintenance, repair, and construction in ammonia refrigeration, plant utilities, automated systems, and building services.
As a Stationary Systems Operator, you'll operate and maintain multiple steam and refrigeration systems that serve H-E-B warehousing and manufacturing facilities.

What is the work?
Refrigeration Operations Performs basic refrigeration operations (putting equipment online, taking it offline, water testing, oil draining, charging compressors with oil, etc.) Performs refrigeration engine room operational checks Performs component and individual equipment pump-downs Performs complex industrial refrigeration troubleshooting and system pump-down Participates in Process Safety Management program initiatives Trains Assistant Operators
Refrigeration Mechanical Schedules / performs major repairs and rebuilds of industrial refrigeration equipment Leads Assistant Operators in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing more complex refrigeration equipment and systems
Refrigeration Electrical Use schematics to troubleshoot complex control circuits Installs / troubleshoots electrical power distribution systems and related components from 120AC to 480AC volts Trains / assists lower-level operators in perform electrical maintenance tasks
Refrigeration Maintenance Performs preventative maintenance (PM), repairs, and calibration on ammonia sensors and alarm panels Performs skill-level appropriate PM tasks on refrigeration equipment Troubleshoots / maintains / repairs more complex refrigeration equipment
Boiler Operations Performs boiler room operational checks Performs blowdown on steaming boilers Starts up / shuts down boilers, feed pumps, condensate return pumps, and other auxiliary equipment Performs boiler water and feed water testing and treatment Calibrates pressure transducers and temperature probes Performs basic steam system troubleshooting Troubleshoots / corrects boiler alarms and shutdowns Troubleshoots / repairs boiler controls
Boiler Maintenance & Repair Prepares boilers for annual local, state, and insurance inspections; returns boilers to service Performs basic troubleshooting and repairs on burners Troubleshoots / maintains / repairs more complex steam equipment and water feed pumps Performs PM tasks on boiler room equipment
Compliance / Safety Operates as a first responder during HAZMAT situations Follows standard operating procedures (SOP) related to completion of stationary engineering logs, completion of work order and parts requisitions, lockout- tagout Obtains / maintains / displays appropriate grade stationary engineer license as soon as experience requirements are met
What is your background?
High school diploma, or equivalent
2 - 6 years of experience in ammonia refrigeration
4+ years of experience in industrial maintenance
RETA CARO certification (Required)
40-hour HAZMAT certification
Boiler operator's license
Do you have what it takes to be a fit as an H-E-B Stationary Systems Operator?
Strong organization and time-management skills
Strong written / verbal communication and skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks; attention to detail
Ability to speak and read English
Ability to resolve most technical issues without seeking direction or assistance

Work while standing, sitting, stooping, walking, bending, with hands over head, and in prone position
Climb; work from a 25-foot ladder and other elevated work platforms (manlift, scissor lift, catwalk, silo)
Occasionally lift and carry 90 lbs
Work in extreme temperatures ranging from -20 to 130 degrees
Pass an annual HAZMAT physical
Obtain / maintain appropriate stationary engineer license, as required by local, state, or federal codes
