in the areas of thermal, mechanical and electrical characterization of materials are invited for applications at the Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM), New York University Abu Dhabi. The candidate will work as a research fellow with CSEM and the Smart Materials Lab (Naumov research group). The role involves preparing, characterizing and testing new smart materials at the intersection of materials science, chemistry and engineering. Responsibilities
Conduct experiments related to assigned research projects, process data and prepare results for presentation in articles and conferences. Submit biweekly reports on research and participate in group seminars. Train students (capstone or interns) and other researchers on techniques within the research domain. Collaborate with the Core Technology Platforms to receive training on available analytical techniques. Work on individualized research projects under supervision/mentorship of the supervisor. Qualifications
Background in mechanical engineering, solid-state physics, chemistry or materials solid-state chemistry. Experimental skills and/or modeling experience with characterization of thermal and mechanical properties. Strong publication record in engineering or science (priority). Strong background in thermal or mechanical characterization of surface and bulk properties of solids from either science (solid-state physics) or engineering (mechanical) is required.
